The history of sauna equipment development
In the 5th and 8th centuries, saunas appeared in Finland. At that time, the bathroom was a single room with a round wood structure. People burned wood in the stove and covered it with several layers of broken stones. When the stones were red and hot, water was poured. People in the meantime, soon sweating, feeling heartily. Known as the "smoke sauna," it's all the rage.
In the 11th century, people built two different furnaces for sauna and cooking together, and the kitchen and bathroom were combined, so cooking and sauna were not delayed.
In the late 18th century, "embedded" brick saunas appeared, with two or three separate sections, the lowest layer for burning wood, the middle layer for small stones, and the top layer for a smoke pipe with regulating valves, all the way to the roof and connected to the chimney. The buildings were mostly made of wood, an "embedded" device that reduced the number of fires that were prevalent in the 19th century.
In the early 20th century, Finnish factories began mass production of metal sauna equipment, and a new sauna equipment industry was formed. The hearth of the sauna is a separate chamber, which still retains a flue, and, unlike before, neither fire nor water directly touches the stone, which can be heated continuously as long as the wood is burning.
The traditional sauna equipment, which is heated by burning wood, has a prominent farming color. With the development of urbanization, this feature is incompatible with modern life style. So in the 1930s, electric saunas were invented. Thanks to the progress of science and technology, sauna equipment is constantly updated. Safe and convenient, the sauna permeates Finnish life with unprecedented depth and breadth. In addition to the sauna equipment in public and private homes, the country's major companies and institutions are equipped with staff sauna equipment, and even the President's office has set up dedicated sauna equipment. Most of the new homes and guesthouses now have a "mini" sauna next to the bathroom.
Classical sauna in ancient Rome, near the northern Europe due to the cold climate, people don't sweat all the year round, so in order to try to make people accepted the sauna sweating the sweat method, and on this basis, make the sauna equipment and the way of bathing and improved continuously, especially with the development of science and technology, the Nordic people apply advanced technology to sauna equipment, making sauna achieve modernization level. Sauna equipment from the bathroom environment and sweating way can be divided into dry and wet.
Sauna equipment introduced to China, first from northern Europe. Dry sauna is introduced from Finland to China, so it is called Finnish bath. Wet sauna is introduced from Turkey to China, so it is also called Turkish bath.
